Thank you for joining Neighbourhood watch and Volunteering to Co-ordinate a Scheme for Stockfield Road, Streatham Hill East.

From Philip Virgo, Neighbourhood Watch development lead and acting MSA for Lambeth

To Chris Whittle, Stockfield Road, Streatham Hill East.

Lambeth does not yet have an active Neighbourhood Watch Association. Until then I am serving as both development lead and multi-scheme administrator.

Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinators are expected to be known to their neighbours and their local Safer Neighbourhood Police team and to serve as a link between the two, They are also expected to be known to their local Safer Neighbourhood Panel and to ensure that some-one from the NHA group attends each meeting.

There is much guidance on the Neighbourhood Watch website and one of the first roles of the Lambeth Association will be to put that guidance into local context as well as to provide support.

Most NHW groups in Lambeth are linked to street/estate whatsapp groups (or similar). Thus one of the oldest groups in West Dulwich currently has 5 in the NHW team, over 50 in the linked whatsapp group and a process for finding who has what doorbell footage when an incident occurs. One of the NHW “team” then passes this to the Ward Police team in support of the crime reference received after reporting via 999 or on-line..

The standard questions for new co-ordinators include:

How many of your neighbours do you expect to sign up to Neighbourhood Watch and/or Met Engage (one sign up covers both)?

How many more take part in any linked street/estate whatsapp group (or similar)?

Have you met your local Safer Neighbourhood Team and Ward Panel?

I note that you have been nominated by neighbours covering 20 households. Are they in a whatsapp or similar  group? If you do not have contact with your Team and/or Panel I will contact the Team and ask them to contact you.

Finally, what support would you most wish from Lambeth Neighbourhood watch Association and what do you think should be its priorities, given that we will need to receive suitable sponsorship in order to deliver?

Thus we currently expect to have support to promote Travel Guardian for safer travel to/from school/work and the  Stop Loan Sharks and will be seeking to raise funds for workshops on how to support vulnerable neighbours too scared to go on-line.

Until  we raise funds to buy more I have only a single NHW sign and twenty small stickers left. You are welcome to these and can buy more direct from Neighbourhood Watch – NWNshop . Marking fluids include  Home - SmartWater and  Products | SelectaDNA
